Friday, September 16th Old West Church, Calais Vermont
I took a drive with Maurine up to Calais Vermont to check out the venue for a wedding she is doing the flowers for on October 9th. It's the Old West Church in Calais, Vermont. Built in 1893, and heated only with two big wood stoves. Inside, there are only numbered cubicles with pews to sit on. Most likely families had their own 'box'. I would pay good money to have the one closest to the wood stove. Now the church is used only for weddings, and Christmas Eve.

Maurine had a flower order to fill for Thursday morning, but had to work late at the office on Wednesday, so she and Don set up a spot light so she could harvest her flowers by spotlight.

Sunday, August 28th Golden Windows and a Barge
Saturday, August 27th Blueberry Jam
Don decides he needs some blueberry jam to get through the winter, so we go pick blueberries, buy some canning jars, and he comes home to make jam.
First job is to pick off all the stems |
All this sugar might explain why he likes the jam so much |
It takes lots of stirring |
Sterilized jars and lids, ready to fill |
Delicious!!! |
