Saturday May 21st, Wedding at The Round Church and The Challenge of the Flower Covered Wreath

The Bridesmaid's Bouquet

Maurine fusses with the flowers on the wreath for hanging over the door, while Don attaches the fishing line to hang it up with.

The big challenge was how to get the heavy wreath up over the door.  It came crashing down after the first attempt.  The fishing line was too weak.  A rushed run to the hardware store, some white robe, and quick work got the wreath up just in time for the wedding.

Tuesday May 3rd It Was All Very Sudden

Ever since reading books illustrated by Tasha Tudor, I have wanted a Corgi.  They seem elfin but feisty.  Ever since local predators have taken a couple of my free-ranging chickens, I have wanted a guard dog.  But our Cicely was getting old, and I didn't want to disrupt her life with a new dog.  So I put it on hold.  After Cicely died  on April 24th, I began putting out inquiries for a Corgi puppy, knowing that they were in high demand and short supply and fully expecting 1/2 to a whole year before tracking one down.  I contacted several breeders, got my name on waiting lists and was flatly turned away by others.  I made inquires from as close as NH to as far away as Texas.  On Sunday a woman from Maine emailed to say her future litters were already spoken for, but that among her current 8-week old litter, one committed owner had to back out due to illness, and did I want to get an 8-week old right away?  Then she sent a picture of the pup that made up my mind.  So on Tuesday I drove 4 1/2 hours to the middle of rural Maine to pick up little Ivy.   Here she is:
Her quarters are in the breakfast nook until we get her house trained.

Chewing tools will be very important for awhile.

Look at those short little legs!

She'd rather be out with us.
