Wednesday, February 24th How Don Felt After the Plane Flight Home

Our plane flight home probably should have been canceled.  The turbulence was awful!  Even the flight attendants were not allowed to leave their seats.  The pilot warned us it would be a rocky ride home, even before leaving the airport.  So we strapped in and sat tight.  I've never been on a more turbulent flight or seen Don turn more green from a plane ride.

Tuesday, February 23rd I make friends with a lizard and other shots.

We had cocktails on the outside deck of one of the restaurants in the resort

On the walk to the conference part of the resort

A quiet spot for sitting

Monday, February 22nd Croquet

There was a formal croquet court as part of the club

Some sort of game was in progress on Monday

An action shot!  Take a look at the tree on the far side of the court.

Sunday, February 21st Life of Leisure

I enjoyed many hours sitting in a chair and reading my book, while overlooking this Spanish courtyard.

Saturday, February 20th The Boca Raton Resort and Club

Don's conference for hospital board chairs was held at the very beautiful and classy Boca Raton Resort and Club.....a ninety year old Spanish style resort on the eastern coast of Florida.

The original, 90 year old cloister part of the resort.  We were lucky to get a room in here.  It had charm and character that the rest of the 'add on' part of the resort did not.

Just a small part of the lobby in the cloister.  This is looking down on it from the balcony at the end of the hall where our room was located.
We had one of the 'low end' (!) rooms with "limited view", but for which we were very happy.  It looked out onto a seldom used, private courtyard filled with cool shade and palm trees.

Friday, February 19th Lunch at a Seafood Joint with Pat and Larry

We spent three days visiting with our friends, Pat and Larry, who are Vermonters turned Floridians.

Thursday, February 18th Dreaming of a New Sailboat

Don took us to look at sailboats at a boat builder and to get a quote on  a new sailboat....just for kicks.  This picture isn't the one he was looking at,  this is a smaller version.  The price tag of $44,000 for the larger, new sailboat, turned the dream into a fantasy.  Back to Craig's list to see what's out there, used.

Wednesday, February 17th Welcome to Florida

I guess the wildlife isn't too friendly around here

He looks a lot like that one I saw on the Four Brothers

Tuesday, February 16th Two Years Running

The second year in a row, our flight to Florida is cancelled due to crappy weather.  We got the news by text on our drive to the airport.  Sleet, rain, freezing rain, and high winds all conspired to delay our vacation.  We will try again early tomorrow morning.

Monday, February 15th The Best Yellow Cake Ever

Maurine made a yellow cake from scratch, then topped it with sourcream-cream bittersweet chocolate icing.  It was the BEST birthday cake, even two days later.

Friday, February 12th Mo and Madison Sledding Madness

I am waiting on the photo....stay tuned and it will be added soon.

Wednesday February 10th Vertical Challenge

Digital Photography School weekly challenge this week was to take vertical shots with your camera.  It's harder than you think, because you can get so much more into a horizontal shot.  You have to pay more attention to the composition with a vertical shot.  Anyway, some detail of the barn seemed to almost play a trick with vertical, looking almost horizontal.

Monday, February 8th I Forgot to Pick up my Camera

so my photo of the day is from hanging out my truck window, using my phone camera.

Sunday, February 7th Porcelain and Stone

Maurine went to Boston and brought back to me these beautiful earrings that she bought from her high school friend turned jewelry maker.

Saturday, February 6th Woodpeckers and Fungus

slowly work away at a dead tree, letting it be part of the great Circle.

Friday, February 5th The Sun Came Out in Time for a Pretty Sunset

Banjo asked to go out onto the porch to soak it in.
It looked like the branches were encircling the sunset

On our eastern side of home, we only see the sunset tip the trees

Thursday, February 4rth Teaching Walter

I was trying to show Walter where to look when we take a selfie.  He almost got it!  And the fact that I got him to sit still for even that little bit was an accomplishment.  My cell phone camera needs a stop action mode for him.

Tuesday, February 2nd Groundhog's Day

She is definitely seeing her shadow....which means six more weeks of winter.
